Learning and Fun, Outside The Classroom

A common question families ask us when beginning the enrollment process is how often their child will get to socialize with others while being educated in a virtual environment. Socialization is an important part of a child's development. The Family Support and Student Services Department offers many age-appropriate socialization opportunities for our families throughout the year. In fact, most of our students find their social lives are just as enriching as their educational lives. The social scene is alive and vibrant thanks to 911±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï socialization opportunities!

Field Trips Across The State


Our Family Support Coordinators (FSCs) organize numerous fun and educational trips each month across Pennsylvania. These are opportunities for students and their families to explore local attractions, meet other 911±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï families, and build strong relationships. There are even field trips offered in the summer! Some examples of trips include:

  • Museums

  • Amusement parks

  • Theater events (i.e. ballets, plays)

  • Planetariums

  • Environmental centers

  • Roller and ice skating rinks

  • Local zoos

  • State and local parks

  • Local athletic events

Community Engagement


Our Family Support Coordinators connect families with service learning projects within their local communities. Service learning opportunities are incorporated into many of our field trips throughout the year. We work with our parents and students to provide ongoing community-based partnerships with local charities including food banks, homeless shelters, and donation centers.

911±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï also offers school-wide service learning opportunities including partnerships with Toys for Tots, the Ugly Quilt Project, and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients Drive enabling all students and families to participate, regardless of their home address.

Extracurricular Activities


You may be wondering — can a cyber school student attend public school events in Pennsylvania? Another question we are frequently asked is if students at 911±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï can participate in extracurricular activities at their local brick-and-mortar school. The answer is yes – students enrolled at 911±¬ÁÏ³Ô¹Ï are eligible to participate in their local school district’s extracurricular activities . This is another great opportunity for our students to socialize and connect with other children in their home district.
